Les
Séraillères, just a few minutes walk from the river, is located
on the edge of the commune of Availles Limouzine, a village that came about
as a bridging point for crossing the Vienne. It can trace its history back
to Availya – the king of Aquitaine in 418, but its first appearance
on maps is in 1420. The area has been inhabited since Gallo-Roman times,
and for a brief period it was English occupied. This ended in 1350 &
during this period that the first bridge across the river was destroyed.
