Les Séraillères, just a few minutes walk from the river, is located on the edge of the commune of Availles Limouzine, a village that came about as a bridging point for crossing the Vienne. It can trace its history back to Availya – the king of Aquitaine in 418, but its first appearance on maps is in 1420. The area has been inhabited since Gallo-Roman times, and for a brief period it was English occupied. This ended in 1350 & during this period that the first bridge across the river was destroyed.

Availles Limouzine now boasts:
Watersports (fishing, boating, pedaloes, swimming – river & lido)
Crazy golf
4x4 track
bars, shops & a restaurant.
Devalkart – a down hill carting slalom

Some other local attractions include:
Sign-posted walks to last a couple of hours or days.
Cycling on the quiet roads
Theme parks such a Monkey Valley or Futuroscope
A motor racing circuit with fun cart track next door
Caves to explore
Bungee jumping

There are a host of picturesque towns & villages such as:
Montmorillon – celebrated for art & literature
Oradour sur Glane – a poignant memorial to show the atrocities that went on there during the 2nd World War
Confolens – a medieval town
The cities of Poitiers, Limoges & Angouleme all steeped in history, plus good shopping & restaurants!

If all this seems a bit too active, then the house is equipped with garden furniture to lounge outside when it is warm, or you can just relax inside. The choice is yours!
